2020 Season Update

17 Mar 2020

All,

With the 2020 cricket season slowly approaching we would like to be as transparent as possible with all of our members as to how the current Coronavirus pandemic may affect this summers cricket.

Please see the below message from the Essex Cricket League;

2020 Season Update

Good Afternoon,

These are unprecedented times that we are living in and I wanted to give a short update to all clubs on where we currently stand as a league.

I had a conference call with the ECB this morning to discuss the 2020 cricket season. The ECB are holding multiple calls over the coming days and will be releasing a statement and advice by the end of the week.

It is now clear that there will be severe disruption to the 2020 League season – how severe is still to be fully spelt out.

Until the ECB statement is released we will not know exact plans – but there is however things that you as clubs can start to act on.

Invoices – we will not be sending invoices out to clubs from the league until we know the full situation. If you have other suppliers who have invoiced you for suppliers, kit etc it may be a good idea to contact them about the situation.

Councils and Landlords – Contact them and explain situation and discuss financial obligations.

Groundsmen and women – Keep them abreast of the situation as much as you can.

Indoor nets – The county has suspended all indoor cricket that they are organising and clubs are doing the same – if you haven't done so already it may be wise to look into any future indoor nets you are organising and taking the appropriate action.

Overseas players – do contact them and their agents as the situation obviously will alter their plans.

Most importantly it is clear that we want everyone to look after their own health and that of their members. Please make that the main priority of your clubs.
