LCC Fundraiser - Ben Notley-Griffiths attempts to re-create Atherton v South Africa 1995

08 Jun 2020

To all,

Firstly, we hope that you and your families are all safe and well during these strange and uncertain times.

With most if not all of the cricket summer sadly being taken away from us this year, our club captain Ben Notley-Griffiths has taken matters into his own hands and has decided to try to help raise some much needed funds that our club will sadly miss out on this summer, along with raising funds for the NHS who have been on the frontline battling to keep many of us and our families safe and well during this period.

The plan? Is to emulate an innings he marvelled as a youngster, to re-create the heroic effort of Michael Atherton v South Africa in 1995.

On Sunday 28th June Ben will start batting in the nets at 8am and bat all the way through till 9pm, totalling a staggering 650 minutes of batting. (There will be a 10 minute break every hour). All are welcomed to participate in this fundraiser by bowling at Ben for a period of time on the day, all standards, ages and actions are welcomed.

(Don't worry, if we run out of bowlers on the day we have a bowling machine which we can ramp up to 90mph to re-create Allan Donald!)

If you would like to make a contribution and be a part of this wonderful challenge please see Ben's just giving page below. As per the justgiving page, please contact Ben for available time slots so that social distancing procedures can be adhered to at all times.
