Cricket Really is for Girls too ..... Loughton Lynxes
Here at Loughton Cricket Club we know that cricket is a game to be enjoyed by all and we are proud to have around 40 women and girls in our squads. We start at u11 and have teams playing competitively at U15, U19 and open age women in the Essex Women’s Premier League – The Loughton Lynxes. Many of our girls / ladies also play in the boys/ men’s teams.
Our ladies and girls train on Tuesday nights. Our awesome coaches, led by Grace Melhuish who coaches Essex girls U18 and U15 squads, Sunrises Emerging Players squad and also plays herself for Essex Women, make sure training is both fun and educational and they strive to ensure every player goes home having had a great session.
We are entered into several leagues and cup competitions in 2023 and cater for all ages and standards. These include
ECB U15 T20 Competition
A national knockout cup competition. They are hardball matches, 8 a side T20 games.
ECB U19 T20 Competition
New for 2022, to help bridge the gap between U15 and open age (adult) cricket, the ECB has introduced the U19 Lady Taverners knockout competition. Loughton is very excited to be entering a team in its inaugural season.
U13 and U15 West Essex Girls League
An informal all girl league set operated in collaboration with a number of local girls' squads to ensure plenty of cricket for the girls. This season we will look to enter teams at as many age groups as we can. Matches are generally played with 8 a side and are played in a very friendly spirit. A great introduction for newer players as well as good games for the more experienced.
National Women's Club T20 Competition
A long established competition, Loughton is entering a team for the first time this season. We are looking forward to the draw and to seeing who our first opponent will be.
Essex Women's Premier League (EWPL)
Established in 2020, this is the elite 40 over league for Essex clubs. With 8 clubs forming the league and each being played home and away we have 14 fixtures to look forward to this season.
Complete beginners and experienced players alike can learn and have fun at Loughton Cricket Club and we would be delighted to see new members at any time of the season.
